Don’t worry, we have all been there! The key is to get started early and use all the resources available to you. Let us help! Attend workshops and Career Readiness Week to prepare. Learn how to network and come to a career expo to meet with employers and set up interviews.
Through Handshake, students and alumni can search jobs, internships, post resumes for full-time employment, obtain employer information, and access on-campus interviewing and recruiting events. Take a deep breath, start early, and you will be much more likely to leave UCF not only with a degree but also a professional job.
More than 6,000 employers recruit at UCF through career fairs and on-campus interviewing. We host two annual Career Expos which provide you with a chance to introduce yourself to employers and ask questions about career opportunities within their companies. The Statewide Job Fair in May, hosted by the Florida Career Centers, offers an additional possibility to connect with employers.
These events are typically held at the CFE Arena from 10am to 3pm. Check the Events Calendar for specific dates. Come prepared with copies of your resume and dressed in business professional attire.
We regularly host employer information sessions, which are opportunities to learn more about the inner workings of a company and which positions the company is looking to fill. Sessions are typically held in the Career Services office or in the Student Union. To find out if a company will be hosting an information session, please check Handshake under the events calendar.
Oftentimes employers hold an information session the day before an on-campus interview date and some information sessions are mandatory. Even if the company does not require it, we suggest you attend the information session as it will provide you with useful information about the company and its culture.
Many of the current jobs available are never advertised. You hear about these jobs through contacts with people that you know. Get out and make yourself visible and let others know what you can do for them!
