New Knights

What is Knights Career Navigator?

Think of the Knights Career Navigator as your student’s professional launchpad. It is a streamlined, required webcourse designed to introduce all first-time UCF undergraduates to the essential career tools they’ll need to succeed in the Florida workforce and beyond.

The course is automatically added to your student’s UCF Webcourses dashboard. It’s designed to be efficient—taking about 45 minutes to complete—and must be finished before the end of their first Spring semester. By completing these modules early, your Knight ensures they are meeting state requirements while gaining a clear head start on their career journey. To ensure your student stays on track, this course must be completed by the March 1st deadline. If it isn’t finished by then, a hold will be placed on their account, which will prevent them from being able to register for future classes.

Orientation

Orientation is a vital start to your student’s journey at UCF, whether your Knight is transferring from another institution or beginning their very first year of college. It serves as a foundational kickoff where students meet with academic success coaches, register for their first classes, and get a head start on navigating campus resources. By attending, your Knight will connect with essential support services—from career development to tutoring programs—ensuring they have a clear roadmap and the right tools in place to succeed from their very first day on campus. More information can be found on the UCF Orientation website.

Pathway Exploration

From orientation to their ultimate professional destination, we are here to ensure your Knight navigates the transition from UCF to a successful career or advanced degree with confidence. By utilizing our comprehensive roadmaps, students have access to a clear, visual checklist of professional milestones to strive for throughout their entire UCF journey. These guides serve as a strategic framework for both career and graduate school preparation, helping your student stay on track with everything from building a competitive resume and securing internships to mastering entrance exams and fine-tuning personal statements. Families play a vital role in this process by encouraging early exploration and consistent action, ensuring their Knight is perfectly positioned to launch into a high-impact role or a top-tier graduate program upon graduation.

The Career Action Plan is a year-by-year guide designed to help UCF students navigate their career development journey from their first year through graduation. This resource outlines key milestones and actionable steps students can take to explore career options, gain relevant experience, and prepare for life after college.

It serves as a supportive tool to help families understand how they can encourage and guide their students through each stage of their career planning process.

The Advanced Degree Roadmap is a great tool for families to help visualize the key milestones your student will reach as they build a competitive application for graduate or professional school. It breaks the journey down into four manageable phases—Exploring, Building, Mastering, and Applying—showing how their preparation evolves throughout their time at the university. Since every student’s path is unique, you can think of the Roadmap as a helpful guide for the types of experiences and decisions you and your Knight might want to discuss along the way.

Stay Connected

UCF Family and Parent Portal

The UCF Parent & Family Portal is the official one-stop shop for staying connected to your student’s college experience. This centralized hub provides access to important campus news and deadlines, but it also allows you to personalize your experience by joining specific “Discover Communities” tailored to your interests and your student’s needs. Through the portal, you can receive timely announcements via email or text and easily share valuable articles and updates directly with your student or other family members. It’s designed to provide a curated newsfeed of advice and information, ensuring you have the most relevant tools to support your Knight’s success every step of the way.
