We are excited to launch the Knight Research Scholars Program (KRSP), a new initiative that expands research opportunities for the University of Central Florida community.

All UCF students can gain valuable research experience through this program. The Knight Research Scholars Program aims to enhance research capabilities and bring together interdisciplinary groups of researchers by:

  • Providing all undergraduates with access to impactful research opportunities by connecting them to various ongoing projects
  • Offering graduate students and postdoctoral scholars the opportunity to lead a team of undergraduates, advancing their research while gaining mentorship training and recognition

To ensure the entire University of Central Florida community has full access to transformative experiences, it is essential to recognize that opportunities are not just given, they are created. KRSP can turn individual needs into partnerships that benefit everyone by overcoming challenges, collaborating effectively, and embracing multifaceted disciplines.

The Knight Research Scholars Program creates opportunities by fostering a multi-layered, research-intensive community that prioritizes the success of all its members. KRSP is a university-wide program that offers mentorship and research opportunities to all undergraduates, expanding access beyond major- or honors-based initiatives.

The Offices of Graduate Student Life, Postdoctoral Affairs, Undergraduate Research, and Research Development have partnered to develop, promote, and facilitate the Knight Research Scholars Program. Based on and in collaboration with Texas A&M’s Aggie Research Program, the Knight Research Scholars Program empowers and trains graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to mentor and manage a team of undergraduate students toward a project-based research goal for at least one semester. Through mentorship, we have the potential to strengthen and enhance the entire research community at the University of Central Florida.
